CLUB GENERAL MEETING

August Meeting
We had 23 Members present at the August meeting and Ron welcomed back Helen who joined at the AGM last year - Helen has a Porsche 912 and has spent the past 9 months getting the car back on the road and onto Spanish registration and the car is almost ready. One guest at the meeting being Neil's wife Christine.
Apologies were received from Heiko and Olli.
Last month's cool run over the hills was a nice run at a nice time of the day followed by a great meal at the restaurant in Sucina. However, there was a problem when the bill arrived as some Members had opted for an alternative sweet which was not included in the menu price and therefore the extra cost for this was taken from the tip meant for the staff at the restaurant which meant that the tip was greatly reduced - the restaurant had opened especially for us that evening. For future reference, can Members please stick to the menu choice.
We had a total of 13 cars turn out for the charity event in San Javier - thank you to all those who attended. The total amount raised is not yet known but Ron will advise on this once it is available.
Ron asked for a round of applause for John Wallis for all his work regarding the Club shirts, caps and neckerchiefs as he had done a good job with this. Any further orders required, please see John. The AGM is now two months away and Ron asked Members to start thinking of nominations for either themselves or others for the positions of President, Vice President, Treasurer and Secretary. Nominations will be required at the September meeting.
Some Members may be aware of the Cannonball Run which is taking place from UK to Monaco at a cost of £1600 per person, with a cheaper version from Barcelona to Monaco for £800 per person which includes hotels and parties - anyone interested in this please speak to Ron.
It is proposed to hold the Anniversary Dinner at Veni, Vidi,Vici - the same venue as last year. The date for this is 7th October 2012.
Forthcoming Events
11th August - we have been invited to a fun day in Lo Crispin to show the cars. The event starts at 6.30pm - anyone wishing to attend this event please contact Ron for details.
12th August - as already discussed at the last meeting, with August being very hot it was agreed to organise a nice evening meal instead of a full days run. Ron has organised dinner at Las Ramblas Golf Club and we shall be meeting at the Lo Monte Hotel at 6.30pm.
The cost of the meal is 25 Euros per head and the Club will subsidise Members by 5 Euros so the cost to Members will be 20 Euros. The menu is : Homemade Bread with Anchovy Butter, shared starters of Assortment of Iberian and Manchego Cheese and Special Foie Salad with Nuts and Vinegar of Modena, choice of Chicken Leg Murcian Style or Iberian Sirloin Medallions in Tender Garlic and Reduced in Chacoli or Hake "Marinera Style" (fish and meat dishes come served with chips and garnish), dessert is Coffee Cream Caramel and the price includes beer, soft drinks, red wine, white wine and coffee. Anyone who has not already booked for this and wants to attend, please let Ron know by Wednesday 8th August (966791212).
16th September - Sue and Keith are organising a late run followed by a game of Mini Golf and a meal. Further details will be given at the September meeting.

Birthday greetings this month are : John Wallis on 11th (welcome to the Pensioners Club!!), Joseph on 19th and Heiko on 16th - happy birthday to you all.
