JULY 2012
TORREVIEJA INTERNATIONAL MOTORING CLUB
CLUB GENERAL MEETING

July Meeting

There were 25 Members present at the July meeting.  Guests at the meeting were Steve Bennett and his friend Frank - Steve has a Lotus Elan and is hoping to join the Club when the waiting list is reviewed, Mo's sister Christine, Heiko & Olli's grand-daughter and Pedro, Maria and Albino's son.

Ron thanked Gaynor and John for last months run - it was a cracking run and they did a good job.  The meal was good and the museum was interesting.

There was also another car club visiting the restuarant where we ate and they were the Amigos Club all with Renault 4 stroke 4 cars dating back to 1953 - this means that they are 4 speed, 4 door and Ron had found one for sale in the UK for £7000.

On a more serious note regarding last months run, Ron had to pay extra in to the drinks bill because not enough had been put in.  IN future, any drinks ordered over and above what is inlcuded in the menu must be paid for as they are ordered.

Ron thanked Members who attended the charity day at La mataa.  It was a nice day with lots of people looking at the cars and Simon Morton gave a thanks to the Club on the Monday morning on the radio.

Ron advised that he has received a notification from Graham Knight regarding English driving licences - the Police are pulling in cars and checking documents and if you have been resident for more than 2 years and have not changed your English licence for a Spanish one, you could face a fine between 200 euros and 500 euros.

Ron has found someone who can change over the licences for 170 euros for 2 people.  It would appear that the Police are targeting areas such as Alicante Airport and Iceland etc.  Ron reminded Members of the vocals withing the club who are there to discuss ideas, suggestions, complaints etc.,  - anyone having either of these to discuss, please speak to a vocal and they will then pass it on to Ron to raise at meetings.

Ron reminded Members that the vocals are: Sue, Vince, Mike and Ulli.  Marcus's Dad sends his best wishes to everyone - he has just had a new knee and is doing fine and he is now having rehabilitation for 3 weeks - Ron asked Memebrs to pass on a big hello from the Members.

Forthcoming Events

15th July - Ron has organised a cool run in the evening which will be the Almond Blossom run but in reverse!  We shall be meeting at the Lo Monte Hotel at 5.30pm and departing at 6.00pm.  We shall be taking the RM1 to Sucina, going over the mountains and then re-joining the RM1 heading towards the restaurant where we ate before.
Dinner will be around 7.00pm and will be a 3 course meal incluidng coffee for 12 euros.

Those wishing to attend this event, please let Ron know before the end of the meeting.

28th July - MABS Charity Day, Iceland, San Javier - Iceland have asked the Club to attend this event as a "show and shine".  We shall be meeting at the Lo Monte Hotel at 11.00am with the aim of arriving at Iceland at 12.00pm.   Iceland have advised that there will be a BBQ available.

11th August - Lo Crispin Fun Day - this is a 3 day event with a medieaval market and TKO radio.  We have been asked if we would like to attend on 11th August from 6.00pm.  If anyone is interested in attending this event, please let Ron know by13th July as he needs to get back to the organisers (966791212).

August Run - as it is very hot in August, if everyone is in agreement, Ron will organise a "meet & eat" evening, using any car.  A show of hand proved this eunanimous.  Further details will be given at the next meeting.

September - ideas are needed of where to go, what to do.  Ron suggested a trip to Lorca and Members present agreed they would like to do this.  Ron will organise this trip.

October - we need a volunteer to organise a run in October.  We also have the anniversary dinner.  It was suggested that we could organise a stay away and combine it with the anniversary dinner.  This will be discussed at the next meeting.
