June Meeting
There were 24 Members present with apologies from Neil Asher, Marcus, Bob & Jenny and Albino.
Last month's trip to Cartagena race track was a good day - especially for the boys! Thanks to Joseph and Evelyn for organising it. We are welcome to return to the race track any time.
Ron thanked all those who turned out for the Diamond Jubilee celebrations in the Park of Nations. There were thousands looking at the cars but unfortunately one member had his bonnet scratched by children sitting on the bonnet of his car - for future events like this we may have to have a "look out" to check that people are not "abusing" the cars - this could be done on a rota basis. Ron asked Michael to pass his thanks on to Margaret for bringing the Lomax. All in all it was a good day.
Ron has received a call from Simon Morton from Sunshine FM who has organised a charity fun day in conjunction with Alfies Dock at La Mata and he has asked if we could provide a display of cars from 1pm until late. Alfies Dock will provide food and drink for all those who turn up with their car. If you are interested in attending this event, please let Ron know before the end of the meeting. If you were unable to attend the meeting but would like to join this event, please let Ron know as soon as possible.
Mike Stansmore has been contacted by the lady from MABS and they are holding a charity event at Iceland in San Javier on 28th July - again, if you are interested in attending this event, please let Ron know before the end of the meeting. Further details on this will be given at the July meeting.
Ron advised that a member had been approached by someone who said that we are a breakaway group from the Phoenix club!!
Ron and John Wallis modelled the club shirts - there is a choice of a polo shirt with 2 embroiders (one of the Club logo and one of your car name/badge) - the cost of these is 12.50 euros for 2 embroiders and 10 euros for 1 embroider. The white shirt that Ron modelled can be purchased from the uniform shop by the park of nations (or other similar shops) and the embroidery is 2.50 euros per logo. Hats are available with the Club logo at 5 euros. There is a choice of Club logo, white background with blue writing or gold backround with blue writing (similar to car badges). Polos shirts are available in any colour. T-shirts are also available with 1 embroider for 10 euros. Anyone interested in buying a polo shirt, t shirt or hat, please let John Wallis know what size, colour and badges .If you are providing your own shirt, please bring it to the next meeting but make sure it is labelled with your name! For the ladies there are neckerchiefs available - these can be purchased from a uniform shop for around 5 euros and the logo will be 2.50 euros.
Despite the waiting list for new members, Ron proposed Mo becoming a member as she has attended all the meetings and runs and she now owns a 1991 MR2 - Ron asked Members to vote on this and the response was unanimous and seconded by Vince. Membership numbers will be reviewed at the AGM.
Forthcoming Events
June 24th - Gaynor and John have organised a trip to the museum of historical vehicles at Guadalest. We shall be meeting by Consum (behind Manolos) at 10:30am for a departure at 11:00am. The trip is 126 kms each way. Entrance to the museum is 2 euros per person and we shall be eating in the restaurant beside the museum which will be a 3 course meal including bread and a drink at a cost of 15.00 euros per person (includes tip). There is also a shop on site selling wines, liqueurs, turron, fancy goods etc. Those who have not already put their name down for this run, please contact Gaynor no later than 15th June.
July - Ron is organising a cool run in the evening - further details will be given at the next meeting.
Any Other Business
Birthday greetings this month are : belated wishes to Leslie for 31st March. Members celebrating this month are : Frank on 13th, Gill on the 24th, Monika on the 25th and Arthur on 27th - happy birthday to you all.
