CLUB GENERAL MEETING

May Meeting
Ron welcomed all to the meeting and thanked John Wallis for chairing last months meeting - John said that he was glad Ron was back and he can now carry on doing a good job!
Apologies were received from Steve & Jean, Michael & Margaret, Neil, Evelyn and Mike & Leslie. There were 19 members present this month.
Last months trip to the Caves of Canelobre was enjoyed by all. It was a good run with a lovely winding road leading up to the caves. Thanks to Keith & Sue and Colin & Mo for organising it. Ron advised that the Committee had held a meeting on 20th April at which Joe advised we have 912 euros in the bank and a 235 euro cash float. At this meeting, Joe had proposed holding a raffle at the monthly meetings with donated prizes to generate some more money for the club. Ron asked for a show of hands from Members present if they felt this was a good idea. There being only 8 in favour of this, the idea was rejected.
The Committee had also discussed the purchase of Club cotton shirts for men with short sleeves and the Club logo, neckerchiefs for the ladies and also Club caps. John Wallis is looking into the costs of these items but a rough idea would be 6 euro for a cap, 8 euro (max) for a shirt. John is also looking into prices for a new Club banner. He will try and get some samples to bring to the next meeting. John advised that you could provide your own shirt and have a logo printed on for about 4 euros.
Forthcoming Events
May 13th - Racing Circuit, Cartagena.
Ron and Joe visited the circuit last Thursday and Ron was very impressed. There is a restaurant on site and normally lunch would cost 15 euros but Ron has agreed a price of 13.50 euros per person. Lunch consists of shared starters of salad, pasta and entremeses, main course is a choice of chicken with bacon & cheese, beef, salmon or tuna and dessert is chocolate cake or ice cream with wine, water, bread and coffee included.
We shall be meeting at Lo Monte at 11:30am to depart at 12:00pm and the run will be about an hour. We should arrive at the track at 1.00pm. Members will have the opportunity to drive around the track behind the safety car (although the car goes quite quick!).
We shall then have lunch before the open day starts at 3.00pm. It should be a good day with some track racing to watch and plenty of other things taking place. Ron requires numbers of those attending before the end of the meeting. For those Members not at the meeting but wishing to attend, please contact Ron on 966791212 no later than 9th May.
June 3rd - Diamond Jubilee celebrations -
Ron is awaiting further details on this.
June 24 -
Gaynor & John are organising the June run to the historical vehicle museum near Guadalest. The date for this will be 24th. Further details will be given at the June meeting.
July 15th -
Ron is organising a cool run - further details in due course.
August 12th -
Special cool run. At the Committee meeting, it was suggested that we hold a cool run with a meal late in the day, possibly at a restaurant with a pool (Mil Palmeras).
September/October -
we may possibly organise an overnight run, leaving on a Saturday, staying overnight and returning on the Sunday.
Any Other Business
Ron advised Members that the birthday cards for Members each month are not subsidized by the Club but bought by Muriel and likewise with the cakes - these are bought by Evelyn. Members gave a round of applause for Muriel and Evelyn as a show of their appreciation.
Birthday greetings this month are Evelyn, Lily, Paul Zaslona and Gaynor's Mum Alex - happy birthday to you all.
