April Meeting
John Wallis welcomed all to the meeting and advised that he was chairing the meeting due to Ron and Muriel being on holiday and therefore it would probably be a fairly short meeting. There were 17 members present with apologies from Neil Asher and Bob & Jenny Brookes. Guests were Sue's daughter, Maria and Albino's son and Siggi's son-in-law.
Last months event was organised by Tom and Gill with a trip to Orihuela, which was interesting with a drive through the countryside then the Orihuela pipes, a further drive and then the pipes again and a visit to a petrol station! This will probably be a trip that we will not repeat but we shall certainly remember! Thanks to Tom and Gill for their effort.
We have had a request via the website from a lady who is getting married in Pilar de la Horadada and has asked if any members could provide some wedding cars. She is looking for a car to take the Groom from Torrevieja to the church in Pilar and a car to take herself and the bridesmaids, then onto the beach for photos and then onto the reception which is being held in San Miguel. If anyone feels they can and would like to assist this lady, please contact Gaynor for contact details.
John advised that we have received a request from a classic car club in Switzerland to join their rally on 6th June. The rally is for cars registered between 1930 and 1975 and is being held in Montreaux. If anyone would like to attend this event, please let Gaynor know and she will pass your details on.
Forthcoming Events
April 22nd -
Visit to the Caves at Busot - Keith and Sue have organised a run to the Caves at Busot which are North of Alicante and are beautiful to see. We shall be meeting behind Manolos (near Consum) at 10.30am departing promptly at 11.00am.
There will not be a coffee stop as there will be time to have a coffee once we reach the caves, before the guided tour. Sue requires names and choices of starter and main course so please advise her before the end of the meeting.
Anyone not attending the meeting but wishing to take part in this run, please contact Gaynor before 12th April by email or phone (oliveoyl64@gmail.com 966717924).
The cost of the trip is 14 euros per person which includes the entrance fee to the caves and a 3 course lunch with a drink and coffee.
Sue advised taking binoculars and cameras as the views are fantastic - however, the use of cameras is not permitted inside the caves.
May 13th -
We have been invited to the Oval Velocity Racing Circuit at Cartagena for their open day.
It is possible that we will make this our club run for May.
There will be trial races to watch and also an opportunity to drive on the track behind the safety car. Further details will be given at the May meeting. If anyone would like to drive on the track, please advise Ron at the next meeting.
Looking Ahead
3rd June (SUNDAY evening - Pack of Nations - Torrevieja)
Queen Elizabeth II Diamond Jubilee celebrations - Graham Knight has asked the Club to participate in the celebrations in Torrevieja and it would be nice to have as many cars available as possible.
Further details to follow in the coming months.
