September Meeting

There were 17 members present at the September meeting, including new member Neil Asher who has recently joined and has a 1977 VW Camper.  Apologies were received from Steve & Jean McLean and Mike and Lesley Stansmore.  Last months run to Casa La Pedrera was the first time that we had had a BBQ and not everyone was happy with this, so in the future we will not look at runs with BBQ options for lunch.   Ron advised that he had a mild irritation with the fact that when there is a problem with a run, Members go to other Members to have a "moan" when in fact they should take any gripes up with the person who has organised the event.  So please, in future, if anyone is not happy with an even, take your concerns to the organiser for that event.  Nominations are due for the AGM next month, the latest date for these are 17th September, please advise Ron.  Can ALL Members please make an effort to attend the AGM.  Ron advised that we have some more of the brass plaques for the cars and they are available at the cost of 17 Euros.  Ron reminded Members that during club runs, the Club is not responsible for the vehicles but the owners are and they should be responsible for EU and Spanish laws. The Club will not condone unlawful use.  Ron advised that during the months of July and August next year, there will be no runs as the heat during these months is too intense and some of the older cars are susceptible to overheating.  However, although it is too hot for a "day run", Ron suggested that we could meet for an evening meal or snack during these months - this will be discussed in the future.  Ron reminded Members that subs are due at the AGM in October at 20 Euros per member.  Anyone who is not available to attend the AGM, please contact Gaynor of your intention to remain a Member and advise her of when you will be able to pay your subs.

Forthcoming Events

September - Unfortunately, the planned event for this month will not now take place so Ron will organise an event in its place - details will be forwarded as soon as they are available.

October 23rd - This is the date for the anniversary dinner and has been organised by Joseph and Evelyn and is taking place at Veni, Vidi, Vici at 8.00pm and is the same venue where we went last year.

The menu for this is :  Shared starters of baguetter bread with alioli, salad with chicken breast, pate, cheese, ham, salami and calamares a la romana , main course is a choice of a) chicken breast in cajun spices with gratinated potatoes, b) sole fish filet with lemon sauce, rice and creamy cauliflower, c) pork loin in pepper sauce, steak fries and vegetables, d) fresh fusili pasta in mustard sauce.   Dessert is home made anniversary cake and coffee and the cost for this is 14.50 Euros per person which inlcudes a bottle of wine between 4 people and water - anyone not drinking wine can have one soft drink.

Main course is to be chosen beforehand so please advise Evelyn of your choice on 966784490.

Ron will also organise a day run for October - further details will be given at the October meeting.

Xmas - Ron has contacted the Manager at Rebate and has made a booking for 11th December.  Carlos (the Manager) has said that this year will be better than last year!  As yet the cost is not known but the Club will subsidise Members.

Any Other Business

John Lambert asked if anyone knew where he could get a Ford Cortina steering rack.

Sue Lakin gave her thanks to John Lambert for the work he carried out on her exhaust.

Gaynor presented flowers to Dieter to pass on to Ilse to thank her for the recent BBQ.

Joe advised Members to keep an eye on their cars whilst at local displays i.e. La Montesinos, as someone had tried to take his Pinafarina badge from the Ferrari.

Please bring in any items for the Xmas raffle to the October meeting.
