AGM 3rd October 2012
There were 29 members present at the AGM, with apologies from Keith Nicol, Steve and Jean McClean, Keith Wyatt, Paul Norkett, Ulli Smits, Michael and Margaret Crowther and John and Diane Wallis. New members present at this meeting were Steve Bennet, Frank Schofield and Jenny Brooks - a warm welcome to them.
Ron gave a Chairmans report, Joseph gave a treasury report and Gaynor read the minutes from the 2011 AGM. Ron gave special thanks to Joe as Treasurer for keeping the finances correct without criticism, John Wallis for his support as Vice-President, Gaynor for all her hard work, which Ron felt was the hardest job on the Committee and Muriel, as without her assistance with the computer Ron would be stuck!
As there were no new nominations for the position of President, Colin Ball nominated Ron which was seconded by Mike Stansmore. Ron thanked Members for their confidence in him but advised that this would be the last year that he would be President. There was a block vote for Gaynor, John and Joe to remain in their posts - this was proposed by Muriel Blackwell and seconded by Mike Stansmore. Vocals for this year will remain the same, those being Mike Stansmore, Susan Lakin and Vince Anson. Ron also proposed Siggi Ferckel as a vocal to act on behalf of the German Members, this was seconded by Joe Pesci.
Past Events
Thanks to Keith, Sue, Colin and Mo for organising the Crazy Golf evening which was a good evening with good food. Also, thanks to Joe for getting us involved with the Royal British Legion where we recently had a display of cars at the castle in San Miguel. Evelyn advised that the Royal British Legion sent their thanks to us for attending the San Miguel event.
Forthcoming Events
7th October 2012 - 6th Anniversary Dinner - Dinner has been organised at the Veni, Vidi, Vici restaurant in the International Marina. We shall be meeting in the Cafeteria Marina Club at 7.00pm beforehand.
28th October 2012 - Ron advised that there would either be a run to the Naval Museum in Cartagena or a Bodega which is North of Cartagena. We shall be meeting at Lo Monte Hotel at 11.00am and the final destination will be revealed then!
November 2012 - John Wallis is organising the November event and the date will be confirmed at the November meeting.
16th December 2012 - Christmas Event at Rebate. Further details on this will be given at the November meeting.
Lorca Trip - at a previous meeting, Ron had asked Members if they would be interested in a run to Lorca. Colin has advised that he is interested in organising this trip, which will probably take place early next year.
Any Other Business
Vince Anson raised a query from the September newsletter that made reference to the fact that the Committee had held a meeting prior to the September meeting, of which he was unaware and as a vocal should have been included. At this point, Vince resigned as a Vocal. Ron explained that the vocals are not actually part of the Committee but are there for Members to take ideas/suggestions/queries to and for them then to be raised with the President, prior to meetings.
Colin asked that if anyone was interested in taking part as a syndicate in the El Gordo lottery, please let him know today (anyone wishing to partake but not at the meeting can call Colin on 965073804). Each ticket costs 20 Euros per couple and Colin will collect the money at the November meeting.
Ron advised that he had a one-off trophy to give to one of the Members - this Member has shown loyalty to the Club from the very early days, attended every meeting, attended 99% of the runs and travels 200 kms round trip to attend - this Member is Vince Anson.
Ron advised that there is an Alpha Romeo Spider V6, 1994 for sale, red, leather interior, left hand drive but on English plates, the price is 2000 Euros. Anyone interested in buying this car, please contact Ron.
Subs are now due. If you did not attend the AGM but intend to remain a member of the club, please inform Gaynor and advise her when you will be paying your subs.

September Meeting
We had 25 Members present at the September meeting with apologies from Michael & Margaret and Karin & Siggi. Due to the very high temperature in August, we did not hold a monthly run but instead Members went for an evening meal at Las Ramblas Golf Club. Members thoroughly enjoyed the evening with 35 people attending and the meal was subsidised by the Club by 5 Euros per Member, as the cost of the menu was higher than normal. There was an entertainer singing a variety of songs, Johnny Dillon, and Ron has approached him to see if he would sing for us at our Christmas event, which he has agreed to. Ron asked that those Members who won awards at last years anniversary dinner, please bring your awards to the next meeting and advise Ron of your nomination to receive the award. The next meeting is the AGM and Ron asked for any nominations for the Committee posts be sent to Gaynor before the AGM. The Committee held a meeting last week to discuss various issues and it was agreed that the Christmas raffle last year went on for too long, considering that we are paying for an entertainer for the afternoon, so it was agreed that this year we would have a maximum of around 20 prizes, but quality gifts. Ron advised that 2 of the first prizes will be a flying lesson and a beauty voucher (donated by Jean).

We shall be meeting at the Spanglish Bar (near to Consum at Dona Pepa, Quesada) at 5.30pm and then we shall leave here at 6pm for about an hours run, arriving at the mini golf at 7pm for a game of golf followed by a meal.
